In what was a thriller from the drop of the puck until the final horn, the Caps Hockey Club took down the Sauce Hockey Academy by a score of 5-4 to claim the top prize of the 2013 AAA division on Sunday in Morinville. The Caps stormed out to a 3-0 first period lead, thanks in large part to two goals from Brody Schwartz, which was cut to 3-1 after 20 minutes. In the second, it was more offense from the Caps as they outscored Sauce, 2-1, taking a 5-2 lead into the third frame. Sauce didn't go away and cut the lead to 5-3 with just over half a period to play in the third, but the Caps weathered the storm and despite giving up a late goal with 70 seconds remaining, held on for the one goal win.
An outstanding performance by these two teams all weekend, and this matchup did not disappoint. Congratulations to both teams for an incredible display of competition, and great seasons.
