2012 AAA Champions

In what was the final weekend for all of the 2012 birthyear athletes in the Hockey Super League, the 2012 AAA Championships lived up to the excitement with some of the best hockey of the season. The Championship game pitted the Gorillas Hockey Academy and the Spartan Hockey Academy in a winner take all matchup for the title. Earlier in the weekend, the Spartan HA beat the Gorillas by a score of 5-4. But on Championship Sunday, the Gorillas got the revenge they desired, as they took down the Spartan HA by a score of 3-2 in OT. Led by some terrific goaltending from Shaheya Morin who made 32 saves on the 34 shots faced, and two goals from Owen Bresden, the Gorillas hoisted the championship trophy. Both teams put on an unreal show, both goalies were incredible (SHA - Filipchuk - 34 SV on 37 SA), and every player dressed for each team left it all out on the ice at Great Plains.

Congratulations to all of our graduating 2012 AAA athletes, with many of them spending 4+ seasons in the HSL, as they move forward into the next chapter of their very bright hockey careers. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch all of you develop to the level you are at, and we will keep a keen eye on all of your careers as you move forward.
